Business: FENNOfashion

Owner: Megan Fenno

Product: Owner & Designer

Tell us about your business, how did you get started?

FENNOfashion by Megan Fenno is an accessory design company located here in Cincinnati, Ohio. All of the accessories are handmade and available in select boutiques across Ohio, online and at events. Megan also specializes in bridal jewelry, custom orders and one-of-a-kind accessories.

After graduating from Savannah College of Art & Design with a degree in fashion & accessory design, I mixed my dream of owning my own business with my love for accessories and started this business. It's been a wild ride and lead me to other exciting opportunites such as working as the fashion editor at Q102 and a job at WCPO sharing DIY projects, but my passion is in this business, so I recently decided to soley work on FENNOfashion as of spring of this year.

How long have you been in business?

I started FENNOfashion in 2007!

What is your favorite part of running your own business?

No doubt my favorite part of running FENNOfashion is creating and designing jewelry and accessories but coming in for a close second is the thrill of meeting new customers at events! I love seeing people try on my jewelry in person because I often will get immediate feedback in regards to new designs. I love how happy ladies leave my booth or table and it's so incredibly awesome to run into people out and about wearing a piece of jewelry I made. It's such a great feeling!

Where do you get your inspiration from?

Honestly, it's one of those things where there is not one source I can pin-point. It can be almost anything and anyone that can spark an idea for me. It could be the color of an outfit a friend is wearing that makes me think of something new to seeing the shapes in the clouds. Inspiration is everywhere, but you just need to be open to finding it in the most unusual places.

What are some of your favorite local businesses?

As one of the only clothing boutiques on the westside, I absolutely love shopping at Lou Lou's Boutique off of Bridgetown Rd. Not only does the store have the cutest clothing line, but they also have been carrying my jewelry line for the past 8 years!

Also on the west side, I love Studio Lush Cincinnati for anything hair and make-up related. All of the ladies who work there are super talented. And Treasure Alley right in the heart of Westwood. The owner Shar is one of the nicest people I've ever met and is so good at restoring furniture. You'll find such a neat collection of vintage items in her store and it's truly so much fun to visit.

Where do you see your business in 5 years?

Oh that's a tricky question for me! It's been such a wild ride with owning this business but I see myself still designing and creating accessories for sure. I have ideas, but am not quite ready to share them yet. Soon, but not yet.

Where can readers find out more about your work?

On my website, I put together a pretty fun 'about' page, highlighting "10 of the coolest moments of my career" with lots of photos of everything from designing and making a wedding dress to trying out for the reality show Project Runway.

My website is also an online boutique where you're able to shop by style or category!

Come meet Megan and check out all of her unique handmade jewelry at the WestSide Market this summer.
